Our checklist for choosing wedding dress

Every year, we sadly see brides who’ve entrusted people with the dress of their dreams and been ripped off with unskilled work. Often they then come to us to sort their dress out. There’s a reason we’re highly sought after. There’s a reason we’ve been doing alterations since 1980. There’s a reason we do so many weddings each year. There’s a reason brides come to us from far away: We are the best. Please, if you are going to use someone else follow this simple checklist; • Are they insured? Can they show the certificate? Is it theirs, and in date? • Want to see ours? It’s here (some data redacted to protect us from fraud online, original available in the shop) • Is this a business, or someone’s hobby? How experienced are they really? • Why do I trust this person with the dress of my dreams? - the key part of the day of my dreams • Why am I using Facebook / Spotted recommendations?! • Why are all the suggestions from people who aren’t recent brides?! - Are they genuine? Have they really used the service? • Why am I spending a fortune on a dress and a wedding, then choosing cheap alterations to save £10? • Is the price for the work done, or a standard price that may mean I’m overcharged? Relax and trust the experts!

Every year, over 85 brides, 150 bridesmaids and as many grooms, travel from all across the Midlands to get their alterations done by us. We’ve got a reputation for quality stretching back to the 1980s. We’ve been featured in many high end wedding magazines and websites. People regularly visit us from as far away as Stoke in the north, Solihull in the south, Rugby in the east, and Telford in the west. And of course - Tamworth and Lichfield! That means we do get very busy in the height of the wedding season! So do plan ahead, and make sure you leave at least 8 to 10 weeks before your big day as we may need to get you in for multiple fittings. With us, you don’t pay a ‘standard’ price. We believe that’s wrong, it overcharges at least 50% of brides and bridesmaids. You should pay for what you need doing, and the time it takes to do it. So, as wedding dresses are all so very different, it’s impossible to give you a firm price without seeing at the fitting. What takes 10 hours on one dress may take 50+ on another.
